Types of Data collected

This privacy statement describes how we collect and use the personal information you provide. It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your personal information and how you can access and update this information.

Collection and Use

We collect the following personal information from you:

• Contact Information for registration (used for performance of contract purposes): name, e-mail address;
• Other information for legitimate interests (used for research purposes): age and gender.

Data are encrypted during transit and stored using Google Cloud server secure data storage technologies.

We use this information to:

• Register the users of the InspireD application (“the App”) in order to maintain contact for purposes on contract; and
• Conduct research and analysis on how user groups interact and use the App.

You must be over the age of 18 to consent to the anonymous data collection.

We will not have access to digital media uploaded to the App by Users, and all such digital media will be stored locally on your device.

Research and Development

We may use personal information to create non-identifiable information that we may use alone or in the aggregate with information obtained from other sources, for scientific research carried out by Ulster University. We would use this anonymous data to look at how users benefit from remembering their past as a person living with dementia or as a carer of a person living with dementia. We may also use the data to improve the App. This anonymous data will not be used for commercial purposes and will not be shared with commercial third parties. The anonymous data will be used for research and the results will be published in in scientific journals and may be presented at research conferences. You will not be named or otherwise identifiable in any publication or presentation.

Sharing Your Information

Your information will not be shared with third parties, except in the specific circumstances set out below.

We may disclose your personal information:

• As required by law, by any governmental or other regulatory authority, or by a court or other authority of competent jurisdiction;
• When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others or investigate fraud;
• To any other third party with your prior consent to do so.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. All data is encrypted during transit over an SSL protected connection and stored using secure data storage technologies.

No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

We comply with the principles of GDPR, encompassing lawfulness, fairness and transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity and confidentiality (security), and accountability.

We have a lawful basis for collecting and using personal data for purposes of contract and legitimate research purpose interests. We do not do anything with the data in breach of any other laws. We use personal data in a way that is fair. We have set out clear purposes for processing data. We only collect personal data we actually need for our specified purposes. We have sufficient personal data to fulfil those purposes properly. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal data we hold is not incorrect or misleading as to any matter of fact. If we discover that personal data is incorrect or misleading, we will take reasonable steps to correct or erase it as soon as possible. We will not keep personal data for longer than needed. For personal data this is while the app is in use by a user and for research data the retention period is 10 years in line with the data retention policy for scientific research projects at Ulster University. We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with access to the App. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information you can opt-out using the App at any time. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We use appropriate security measures in place to protect the personal data we hold. This includes secure data storage technologies and the encryption of data during transit.

Children's Privacy

The Application is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable Information from children under 13.  If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent's permission to access the App. If you learn that your child has provided us with Personal Information without your consent, you may alert us via email at info@theinspiredapp.com If we learn that we have collected any Personal Information from children under 13, we will promptly take steps to delete such information.

Notification of Privacy Statement Changes

We may update this privacy statement to reflect changes to our information practices. If we make any material changes we will notify you by email (sent to the e-mail address specified on registration) or as otherwise required by law. We advise you to periodically review this privacy statement.
